ABCs of Fertilizer Management (In Spanish): Hands-On Training With Train-the-Trainer Option
- Introduction to plant nutrition: Essential plant nutrients, deficiency symptoms, and the influence of environmental conditions and cultural practices on nutrient uptake by plants.
- Fertilizer Management: Types of fertilizers and their benefits/disadvantages, proper storage and use, and the influence of irrigation practices on nutrient uptake and fertilizer runoff.
- Evaluating Media and Water and Monitoring Fertilizer: Hands-on training in the use of portable electrical conductivity and pH meters, methods used to determine dissolved salts, and a sample laboratory analysis for soil and plant tissue will be explained in practical terms.
- Fertilizer Application, Equipment, and Injectors: How to calculate the amount of fertilizer needed and the various types of equipment, including fertilizer injectors used in small and large operations. We will also demonstrate the use of a fertilizer injector and discuss the preparation of stock solutions and dilution ratios.
