Best Management Practices

Black light traps

Description

Blacklight traps can be used to monitor night-flying insects.  However, since there are many night-flying insects which are attracted to blacklights, many non-target pests will be caught as well. If this method is employed the traps catches must be sifted through often by an employee who can identify the insect very well.

BMSB:  BMSB is easily distinguished from indigenous stink bugs and other insects, which makes this method a less time-consuming option.

Applicable Pests
  • Brown marmorated stinkbug (BMSB)
